Central Indiana First Steps is part
of the Indiana First Steps Early Intervention Program
for infants and toddlers experiencing or at risk for
developmental delays and their families. Indiana First Steps is
Indiana's response to the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA), Part C. The goal of this program is to
promote development of infants and toddlers with delays and
disabilities, reduce the need for special education services,
enhance families' capacity to meet the special needs of their
child, and increase identification of children at risk for
developmental delays. We work with families to provide a
comprehensive, family-centered, coordinated, neighborhood based
system of services for infants and toddlers with developmental
delays and disabilities.
Central Indiana First Steps is comprised of a group of
neighboring counties or a "cluster" of counties.
Included in the Central Indiana Cluster, also known as
Cluster "G", is Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion,
Morgan, and Tipton Counties. Referrals for all
families in Cluster "G" counties come into the
same location, the agency ProKids, Inc. The map to
the right depicts the layout of counties included in
Cluster G.
